The Unified Modelling Language (UML) is a general purpose notation "language"
that helps communicate software requirements. UML diagrams provide a method for
people to communicate business and technical concepts using easy to understand
diagramming models. While the interpretation of UML diagrams is a relatively
straight forward process the process behind generating the models can be
complex. Producers of UML models need to understand the UML concepts, the tool
they are using to design the model and finally they need to be able
to present the information in such a way that the model will be
understandable by non-UML proficient model users.
